Chamomile is a magical herb. It has been around for centuries, used by the ancient Romans and Egyptians, and the fact that it has been used to this day speaks a lot of how powerful it is and it’s amazing benefits. Here are some of them:
▪️Nourishes the skin
There is only one thing in the world thats more gentle and more delicate than baby’s skin and thats YOUR BABY’s skin! And your baby's skin deserves the best. So using a lotion with chamomile as the active ingredient will nourish, protect and sooth. Chamomile contains anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties ( told you it’s magical) It calms the skin, reduces redness, rashes and itching.
▪️Calming effect
Chamomile is a natural relaxant which means it can help calm your little one. Giving your baby a chamomile bath can be a great night time routine. It is very easy to prepare, promotes peaceful sleep and can sooth any dry or irritated skin.
All you have to do is brew one tea bag in one cup of water, let it sit for 20 minutes and once the temperature is appropriate, add that to your baby's bath tub. Enjoy bath time as usual and don't forget to massage with the chamomile lotion afterwards to lock in the moisture.
▪️Relieves teething symptoms
It is no secret that a lot of teething gels contain chamomile as their main ingredient, because its natural, non-toxic and because it works :) You can actually make your own teething relief at home following these quick and easy steps:
Take a clean washcloth, dip it in a bowl of chamomile tea, remove the excess water and put it in a zip lock bag. Place that in the freezer and offer it to your baby when you notice the signs of teething. Just make sure that the washcloth is cold rather than completely frozen, so it won’t hurt their gentle gums.
▪️Relieves gas or bloating
Chamomile is believed to help reduce discomfort of gas and bloating in babies. It can also minimize the risk of constipation and can even combat colic! Plus remember it has a calming effect so it may help your baby sleep better after that. Its a win-win! Just please consult with your child's pediatrician first, to make sure it is age appropriate.
▪️Boosts immune system
This is no surprise since the first thing we think about when we have a cold is to drink a cup of tea! The good news is that chamomile tea is the best one when it comes to fighting colds and boosting the immune system. Its loaded with antioxidants and flavonoids and has antimicrobial properties.
Again please consult with your child's pediatrician first.
Going through that list of benefits, we brewed a few tea bags, didn't we :) Put those in your freezer and use them as an eye mask to help reduce puffiness and redness! Enjoy this quick spa moment, mama!
