Coconut Oil Benefits

How To Use Coconut Oil For Your Baby, And Why It should Be Every Mom’s Best Friend.

You already know all the amazing everyday uses of coconut oil- in the kitchen, on your body, as a hair mask. And let's admit it, it works wonders. But mom, did you know that coconut oil can be so beneficial for your baby's skin too?

▪️ Relief for eczema
Eczema makes the soft baby skin become very dry and itchy. That would be very uncomfortable for your little one, but since coconut oil is a natural moisturizer it can help soothe eczema and lock in the moisture. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can help ease swelling and itchiness. And its antimicrobial properties can even keep certain bacteria away from your baby's skin. All you have to do is apply some coconut oil directly to your baby's clean skin. It’s natural and safe, just make sure you use organic and unrefined (meaning it hasn't been bleached ) coconut oil.

▪️ Bug bites
If a bug ever has the audacity to bite your baby…. don't panic! Coconut oil to the rescue! Those antibacterial properties prevent germs from entering the body through the bite. So when you actually apply it, it forms a thin layer and protects from any bacteria.

▪️ Baby dry scalp
Baby dry scalp is pretty common among babies. It is dry and flakey skin, and the scalp may appear reddish or yellowish. A head massage with coconut oil can actually reduce the dryness and the flaky skin will go away if you use it regularly. Massage it in for a couple of minutes ( just be careful around their soft spot), let it stay for another 10 to 15 minutes, and wash it off with warm water. And listen to this, coconut oil also promotes hair growth! Yey! Fuller and thicker hair!

▪️ Baby massage
Massaging your little one is such an amazing bonding routine. It helps your baby relax, reduces fussiness, strengthens the skin, and can even help him sleep more peacefully! (yes, thats right..sleep:) Coconut oil is the perfect oil for that because it protects the baby's gentle skin with its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties while it moisturizes and hydrates. As always, remember to use good quality coconut oil!

▪️ Diaper Rash
Diaper rashes are common and appear as skin irritation in the diaper area. Baby skin may be sore, tender and that can make your little one fussy! Change diapers often and you can even give your baby a “break” with some naked bum time in between changes, so the skin can breathe. Coconut oil can be used as a prevention. it forms a protective layer between the diaper and the skin and since we now know it's antibacterial, it will stop any irritation and inflammation.

▪️ Surprise! Bonus tip! This one is for you, mama!
Coconut oil works wonders as a nipple cream. If you are breastfeeding you know how painful cracked nipples can be! Ouch! Just apply a small amount of virgin coconut oil after each feed to keep them moisturized!
